An electric roaster is designed to roast and dry grain, seeds, nuts, groats, coffee beans, spices, pasta, and other free-flowing food products. The product is heated continuously while being mixed. A digital temperature controller allows operation from 60 to 280°C, so the machine can be used for both roasting and controlled drying.

During mixing, heavier impurities settle while lighter particles rise to the surface for easier removal. Insulation up to 200 mm thick helps retain heat, while the heating elements may use about half of their rated power during normal operation.
